Everyone is under stress these days. The school going kid, the college going youngster, the job seeking candidate, the supervisor and manager in a company, the parents at home, the ones who are married, the ones who are not married, the one who has a child, the one who doesn’t have a child and the elderly who have retired.

Stress is definitely good up to a certain level because it prods us into taking action to go for the goals we want to manifest. But when it goes beyond a level it will start having adverse effects on our physical and mental wellbeing, which will impair our thinking, feeling and action. This threshold is different for different people, some are like glass who gets shattered easily when hammered and some are like steel that get stronger with constant hammering.

You can use several approaches to manage stress but what I am about to suggest is taking five baths every day. I can testify that if you took these five baths everyday religiously, you will never need to use any other technique to cope with your stress, it will melt away automatically. You must be wondering what these five baths are, so let me explain each of them.

1.Bath of the Body (External)

This is the bath that you have with soap and water. I don’t need to tell you the importance of having this bath, it helps you maintain hygiene, you feel fresh, and you feel good about yourself. Avoiding this bath can make you stink; some people try to solve this with a deodorant spray which actually makes the situation worse.

2.Bath of the Body (Internal)

Every morning when you get up, the first thing you do is drink 2 glasses of water at room temperature. Initially it may be difficult to drink 2 glasses so begin with half a glass and then slowly keep increasing the quantity. You should drink this water before brushing your teeth. Drinking water is a very good flushing system which takes all the germs of your mouth, cleans your digestive system and finally cleanses your bowels making you feel lighter and better. If your bowels are not clean, you feel as if your are carrying a very heavy weight, it also affects your mood and productivity.

3.Bath of the Mind

You can take this bath in three ways a) By doing simple breathing exercises which increase the intake of oxygen, each cell of the body gets extra oxygen, it’s like giving each cell of your body a bath b) When you sit to meditate you are having the bath of the mind c) Another way to have this bath is to laugh out loudly for no reason and at no one. Laughing is a very good exercise, it supplies more oxygen, it wakes up your cells, and it gives a good massage to the important organs of your body.

4.Bath of the Intellect This bath can be had by reading a book which lifts you up, inspires you. If you are a person who does not like to read, you could listen to audiobooks or even watch TV programs, specially the spiritual ones, which inspire you and make you feel good about yourself. If you stuff in good things, under stress, only good things will come out.

5.Bath of the Spirit No, No, I am not going to ask you to drink 2 pegs of Vodka. You can take this bath by spending some time every day in prayer. The prayer could just be to express your gratitude. Whenever you pray, you automatically go into a very different level of consciousness, you feel so calm and serene. This calm feeling completely obliterates your stress.

So there you have it, just 5 baths every day. If you make it a habit of taking these baths, you can be rest assured that managing stress will become effortless. Go give it a try.
